Super Eagles star, Oghenekaro Etebo has revealed that his preferred position is number 10.
He, however, added that he was ready to play in multiple midfield roles to help his team.
Etebo has been playing for Nigeria as a defensive midfielder and has functioned in the position in all Super Eagles matches in the 2019 African Cup of Nations in Egypt.
Etebo told Busy Buddies, ”My best position is number 10 because when I was growing up I started playing as a number 10, as a second striker but I can recall vividly when I went to Las Palmas we had two number 6s and then they had injuries.
”Three months to the end of the season they could not play so I was the only option to play in the number 6 position. I played six games or so as the holding midfielder.
“It was the same when I went to Stoke City. When the first gaffer came we played 4-3-3, sometimes with two holding midfielders with one in front depending on the opponent and the strategy.
”Naturally, I am a number 10 and a second striker, that’s my position. One thing I believe in, even if the coach tells me to play as a holding midfielder, left or right midfield, the most important is to stay as a team because we are going to achieve one goal which is to win.”
