Alhaji Nasiru Darazo, a chieftain of the All Progressives Congress, APC, in Bauchi State, has stated that the decision of the party’s NEC to embrace indirect primaries at the state level indicates lack of internal democracy in the APC. He stated that such resolve will make the APC lose support from Northern states the party controls.

The APC chieftain told DAILY POST in Bauchi on Friday, that it was “as if the APC decision is targeted at the founding fathers of the party like Dr Ibrahim Lame apart from Speaker Dogara whose political influence in the state overshadows that of the sitting governor, Abubakar.”

Darazo added that President Muhammadu Buhari may survive the political challenge in his presidential bid, but most APC governors in the North will lose to the opposition come 2019.

According to him, “The governors know their political sins and want to escape disgrace. If the party had decided on direct primary election most of them will lose their seats from primary levels in reflection of the failed congresses they conducted”.
