2019: Abia guber aspirant, Ukauwa urges warring party leaders to close ranks

A governorship aspirant and a chieftain of All Progressives Congress, APC, in Abia State, Ambassador Chibuuke Ukauwa on Wednesday urged members of the party to close ranks and work for the re-election of President Muhammadu Buhari to enable his administration consolidate on its achievements.

Ukauwa, however, lauded the appointment of Ashiwagu Bola Tinubu to head APC reconciliation committee, saying he was confident that the former Lagos state Governor would deliver in his assignment.

Speaking to DAILY POST in Umuahia, the Abia State capital, the APC chieftain appealed to the party members to give all necessary support to the reconciliation move, so as to achieve lasting peace in the party ahead of 2019 election.

He said, “There is need for all APC leaders and members in the country to sheathe their sword, close ranks and work for the victory of APC in the 2019 election. There is no way we can achieve victory in a divided house. All party members must shun divisive tendencies that may rob the party of victory.

“All hand must be on deck to ensure the re-election of our dear President, Muhammadu Buhari. He deserves second term because of his people-oriented policies that have brought reliefs to Nigerian masses.”

He backed the extension of the tenure of the national chairman of the party, Chief John Odigie-oyegun, describing it as good step in a right direction.

He expressed confidence that Oyegun would again lead the party to victory in 2019 presidential poll, reiterating the determination of Abia APC to take over the governance of the state come 2019.

Ukauwa urged Nigerians to shun the antics of the PDP and other oppositions parties, which according to him, wasted sixteen years in office only to inflict poverty, hunger and institutionalized corruption in the country.

“You are aware of the antics of the oppositions. They have worked so hard to malign President Buhari. Because they are threatened by his achievements. So, PDP and others are in deep shock that what they could not achieve under sixteen years, Buhari has achieved under two and half years.

“Nigerians should continue to support our President to fix the country. You know he met a bad system on assumption of office occasioned by PDP mistake in the country.”
