2019: Abia APC raises alarm over buying, selling of PVC

Ahead of the 2019 general elections, the Abia State Chapter of the All Progressives Congress (APC) has raised the alarm over what it termed buying of Permanent Voters Card (PVC) by some agents of an opposition party in the state.

The APC urged well-meaning Abians and security agencies to be on the alert and arrest any person or group of persons who want to subvert the democratic process and truncate a free and fair election in the state in their desperate bid to hold on to power.

In a statement issued by the publicity secretary of APC in Abia, Comrade Ben Godson, and forwarded to DAILY POST on Thursday, the party said that the illegality which is reportedly going on in two LGAs of Obingwa and Osisioma should be checkmated to save democracy from the hands of unscrupulous politicians.

“We want to alert all Abians that the enemies of democracy have come again. These enemies of free and fair election that have held our state to ransom have started again. This time around, they know that the next election will not be business as usual, what they have resorted to doing is to be going from house to house, buying peoples PVC with just 10,000 Naira.

“I want our people to know that next year is not just ordinary election. It will be a time to say goodbye to maladministration and governance of billboards without projects. Abians should know that their PVCs is their power to say no and yes and whoever they hand it over to as against what it is meant for will control their destiny for another four years.

“We urge the security agents to be watchful of activities like this. We also urge the security agents to arrest and prosecute people used in the vandalizing of our banners and billboards. This is democracy and tolerance of others must not be lacking in Abia.”

The party, however, called on all Abia people and well-meaning Nigerians in the state to rally round the APC governorship candidate in the state as he has what it takes to deliver Abia from economic stagnation that the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) administration has placed it under’
