2019: 70 political youth groups merge in Kwara, vow to sack Saraki

The Coordinator, Kwara Rescue Alliance, Abdulsalam Ibrahim, has declared that 70 political youth groups in Kwara State had formed an alliance to unseat the Senate President, Bukola Saraki.

Ibrahim said the move was due to alleged bad governance and misrule by the lawmaker.

According to him, residents of the state had yet to enjoy dividends of democracy as they should under the Saraki dynasty, adding that there was a need to liberate the people from misrule.

He also claimed that the group was also poised to unseat Saraki’s loyalists and cronies in the governance of the state.

Ibrahim who spoke with Punch in Ilorin, the state capital, on Friday, also accused the Governor Abdulfatah Ahmed-led government of ineptitude and lack of commitment to the welfare of the residents of the state.

He maintained that the alliance was to reposition the opposition and make it more vibrant so that there would be a change of government in 2019.

He said, “70 youth political groups formed an alliance to unseat Saraki because the state has lost direction completely and we have no hope in the possibility of a change especially by the ruling government.

“We feel that even the opposition that is currently in the state needs some guidance.

“The ruling government is totally out of the question and the opposition is not getting it right as well.

“So, we want to bring the opposition together and we will ensure that the opposition goes into the elections as a joint force and with a credible alternative.

“We are sure we are going to win the elections.”
