Germany football team manager, Joachim Low has explained why Manchester City star, Leroy Sane is absent from the 23-man squad he is taking to the World Cup in Russia this month.
Hide quoted text Sane had a spectacular season for Pep Guardiola’s City side, winning the Premier League title by storm and destroying Arsenal 3-0 in the Carabao Cup final to secure a double trophy-winning season for the Citizens.
The 22-year-old also won the ‘Premier League Young Player of the Year’ award, marking a fantastic campaign that saw Sane contribute to some world-class attacking football.
However, despite his talent, Sane was not included in Low’s Germany 23-man squad travelling to Russia this month to compete in the World Cup.
Explaining his decision to Mirror Newspaper, UK, Germany’s coach revealed that he doesn’t think Sane is ready for the international stage.
Low said: “That was a very close decision between him and Julian Brandt, which was made in favour of Brandt.
“Draxler, Reus and Muller are set. Leroy has a huge talent. He will be back again from September. He had not arrived in international matches yet.
“It was a very close decision. If it was a 100 metre race, it would have been a photo finish.”
