Nigeria kicked off their 2018 World Cup qualifying run, with an uninspiring 0-0 draw against Swaziland in Lombamba on Friday evening.
Sunday Oliseh’s men came close to breaking the deadlock several times, but failed to find the back of the net.
Both teams will clash in the second leg in Port Harcourt on November 17.
The winner of the tie on aggregate, will go straight into the 20–team, mini-league phase beginning next year.
