Croatian creative midfielder, Luka Modric, has reacted to his side’s thrashing of former world champions, Argentina in the Group D second game on Thursday.
The Real Madrid midfielder said they won the game comfortably simply because they played well.
Argentina played out a 1-1 draw in their first group match while Croatia had all three points going into the game having beaten Nigeria 2-0.
Ante Rebic opened the scoring for the Europeans with a second-half volley that was Willy Caballero’s error before midfielders, Luka Modric and Ivan Rakitic added late strikes.
Modric, after the match said, “We played well and defended well too. We had the opportunity to score and we made good use of them. We now hope to do better as the tournament progresses.
“We are now in the round of sixteen.”
