France legend, Thierry Henry, has reacted to his country’s victory at the 2018 World Cup hosted by Russia.
Henry, a former France international, was on Belgium bench as one of the Red Devils’ coaching staff when his country beat them 1-0 in the semi-finals.
Henry helped Belgium win the third-place play off against England, while France defeated Croatia on Sunday to lift the trophy for the second time in their history.
Henry was there 20 years ago when France won the World Cup on their home soil.
“I congratulate the players and the coaching crew. They’ve shown they are the best team right now,” Henry told reporters.
“Its a great feeling seeing your country winning a World Cup. Its a great feeling for French fans. I say congratulation to the players.”
This is the second time Henry will be congratulating France players in the course of the World Cup. The first was when him and his Belgian team were beaten by Didier Deschamp’s side in the semi-finals.
