Benfica’s new defender, Tyronne Ebuehi, has said that only Gernot Rohr can guarantee him a place in his 2018 World Cup squad.
Ebuehi was part of the Super Eagles setup during the qualifiers, but only as a squad member.
The 22-year-old found himself as backup to first-choice Shehu Abdullahi and failed to make an appearance in all three times he was named substitute.
However, last November, Ebuehi featured in the Super Eagles’ 4-2 win over Argentina.
He was then named along with four other full-backs [Elderson Echiejile, Ola Aina, Abdullahi and Brian Idowu] in Rohr’s 30-man provisional list for the World Cup.
“I have been with the Nigerian team a few times and Gernot Rohr acknowledged that I’m a good player,” Ebuehi told Goal.
“But I don’t have the status within the team to be certain of a place in the team. It depends on the coach.”
