2018 World Cup: Chelsea reacts to Nigeria’s 2-0 loss to Croatia, slam Moses, Mikel

Chelsea has criticised Victor Moses and John Obi Mikel’s performance in Nigeria’s 2-0 loss to Croatia in their Group D opening game on Saturday.

Chelsea questioned Nigeria’s lackluster display, while noting that their former player, Mikel failed to threaten the Croatia in his No 10 role.

There have been calls that Mikel should be deployed in the same position he used to play for Chelsea when Nigeria tackle Iceland on Friday.

Chelsea wrote on the official website, ”Victor Moses became the first Chelsea player to suffer defeat at Russia 2018 when a lacklustre display from Nigeria resulted in defeat by Croatia.

”Moses started on the left of the Nigeria line-up but soon moved into an attacking position on the right and took most set-pieces, but he and his team-mates, who included John Mikel Obi in the no. 10 position, rarely threatened.”

Moses was on for the duration of the encounter while another Chelsea player, Kenneth Omeruo was on the bench.
