2018 World Cup: Amuneke tells Rohr what Super Eagles need

Former Nigeria international, Emmanuel Amuneke, has told head coach of the national team, Gernot Rohr, to look for a back-up striker to Odion Ighalo ahead of the 2018 FIFA World Cup.

Ighalo failed to score in the Super Eagles’ last two matches during the international break against Poland and Serbia.

The Chongchun Yatai striker has scored four goals in 14 appearances.

“If you say they should play in that role as a striker of course they will, but I must be sincere with you that instinct that makes a real No.9 stand out they don’t have it.

“Ighalo can deliver but he will need massive support from the creative players to get him to score but we need someone we can count on,” Amuneke told CompleteSport.

Nigeria will face Iceland, Croatia and Argentina in Group D of the 2018 FIFA World Cup in Russia.
