Former Super Eagles assistant coach, Daniel Amokachi, has said that current handler of the team, Gernot Rohr, should have added Brown Ideye and Henry Onyekuru to to his 30-man provisional squad for the 2018 World Cup.
The duo didn’t end the season on a very good note, with Ideye failing to rescue LaLiga side Malaga from relegation, following his loan move to the club in January from Chinese side, Tianjin TEDA.
Onyekuru who spent the season on loan to Belgium side Anderlecht from Everton, failed to play a single game this year since his return from the injury he sustained in December.
“I don’t have much to say on this. The coach has the final say. He knows what he wants. His perception remains unquestionable to me. As for me, I believe he has picked the best legs for the tournament. He rolled out the name most Nigerians are expecting.
“Although the likes of Brown Ideye, Henry Onyekuru were some omissions some people expected to be considered, it is left for those chosen in their places to prove the coach right. With this team, I still believe the team can break a jinx in Russia.
“I saw the spirit of determination in the team. Everyone is willing to make an impact right from their first World Cup qualifier match. I wish them the very best of luck,” Amokachi told Sportsvillagesquare.com.
