Wife of the Osun State Governor, Mrs Sherifat Aregbesola on Monday personally visited the Osun State General Hospital, Asubiaro, Osogbo, to present gifts to the first baby of the year delivered at exactly 2:18am.

The second baby was delivered at 6:49am.

The First Lady was accompanied by some wives of political appointees and party faithful.

She personally handed a 50kg of rice to each mother as wells as N100,000 cash.

Mother of the first baby, Mrs Olanike Okewunmi, and the second mother, Mrs Folayemi Albert thanked Mrs Aregbesola for her good gesture.

The First Lady hitherto sent a delegation to perform the obligation.

DAILY POST had exclusively reported an alleged fraud perpetrated by the hospital, in connivance with those who presented gift items on behalf of the First Lady in 2017.

The father of the 2017 first baby of the year, Mr Kajogbola Olasunkanmi had on Wednesday, January 4, 2017, told our reporter how the hospital shortchanged him and his family.

He said the N15,0000 cash gift, 5kg of rice, and water flask presented to his baby was far below what came from Mrs Aregbesola.

But state government, through the state owned ration station, debunked the allegation, accusing the father of mischief.

The then Director of Bureau of Communication and Strategy in the office of the Governor Mr Semiu Okanlawon claimed to have spoken with the wife, Mrs Kemi Olasunkanmi, who according to him “contradicted her husband”.
