Governor Seriake Dickson of Bayelsa State has restated the resolve of his administration to tackle the ugly incidence of kidnapping and criminality in the state with a new vigor.

Dickson gave the assurance in his New Year message to the people during a special Thanksgiving service at the Palace of King Melchizedek, the paramount ruler of Toru-Orua community in Sagbama LGA of the state.

He also assured that the state government would launch a massive onslaught against masterminds of kidnapping and other criminal activities in his second term.

The governor, who acknowledged that his administration made appreciable progress in the area of security, however, deplored the wave of criminal activities towards late 2015 in the state.

He attributed the recent upsurge in crime and violence in the state to the “inordinate ambition of some political actors” and their activities leading up to the last December 5th governorship elections in the state.

Dickson restated his government’s preparedness to strengthen the existing collaborative efforts with security agencies to boost community policing and intelligence gathering.

He said that his administration would not tolerate acts of criminality in the New Year, warning that anyone caught would be decisively dealt with in accordance with the laws of the land.

“Let me quickly remind all of us that we live in very trying times that call for caution and care. These are times that make it imperative for us to be watchful and to be our brother’s keepers.

“These are very interesting times when people seek power by all means, foul and crooked, when brothers have turned against brothers; when people have turned their fellow human beings to be articles of trade,” Dickson said.
