The Ijaw National Congress, INC, has said that the region will not adopt violence or abusive methods to pursue President Goodluck Jonathan’s second term bid in 2015.

INC said, though the use of abusive and disparaging words against Jonathan by opposition politicians and groups were provocative.

The elders of the South-South region would lead a delegation on peace and dialogue mission to the Arewa Consultative Forum, Ohanaeze Ndigbo and the Oodua Peoples Congress,OPC, over the need to secure a second term for President Jonathan.

The group stated this in Yenagoa on Sunday during an interactive session with the central zone, convened by the state Commissioner for culture and Ijaw National Affairs, Dr. Felix Tuodolor.

He said that Ijaw leaders were set to lead a delegation to meet with northern and southwest elders to ensure a safer and more acceptable decision for the re-election of President Goodluck Jonathan.

The elders, made up of Chief Francis Doukpola, Chief.T.K Okorotie, Barr. J.M Aseh, Professor K. Alagoa, Professor Nelson Brambayefa, Prof. Francis Sikoki Sir Patrick Erasmus, Chief Tam Mitin and the vice-president of the INC, Chief Austin Lugbeniwei, declared that “the INC leadership will network with other regions to ensure a safe course for our son in 2015.”

Doukpola said “the Ijaw Nation is not going to war with any region over 2015.We will get the second term for the president by not fighting, but by dialogue and diplomacy.”
