Buhari and Jonathan
As battle begins for the 2015 presidential election, Third Republic governor of Anambra State, Dr. Chukwuemeka Ezeife, has asserted that a presidential aspirant on the platform of the All Progressives Congress, Maj. Gen. Muhammadu Buhari, cannot withstand President Goodluck Jonathan.
He expressed hope that the President would floor Buhari in 2015 with a wider margin than he did in 2011, if the retired general emerged the presidential candidate of the APC.
Ezeife, who spoke with Vaguard on Tuesday, noted that none of the presidential aspirants on the platform of the APC could defeat the President in 2015.
According to him, Jonathan had divine backing.
He said, “Jonathan appears to be a tool in the hands of God. God does everything with a purpose and it doesn’t appear God has finished with Jonathan. Others can contest for the Presidency, at least, that will make money to flow around to poor people. There will be no change in Aso Rock after the 2015 presidential election.
“There will be no contest. Buhari is no match for Jonathan. This is a clear case. Look at how Ebola ended in Nigeria. They are still battling with it in America. Look at the level of development that is going on. The man (Jonathan) always acts as if he doesn’t know what he is doing but he will be doing everything right.
“Now, we are talking about ceasefire with Boko Haram. Those who said they would make Nigeria ungovernable have failed. Nigeria is still governable and Jonathan is governing it.”
Ezeife, however, expressed worry that Buhari’s statement may lead to post-election violence if he loses the February 14, 2015, presidential election.
