Secretary to the All Progressive Congress, APC, George Moghalu, Thursday, disclosed that the party was yet to adopt any presidential candidate ahead of the 2015 election.
He added that imposition of candidates had no root in the newly formed party.
Moghalu, who doubles as Secretary of the Inter-party contact committee in the merger for the All Nigeria Peoples Party (ANPP) and National Vice Chairman of ANPP (South East) also, refuted that the merger process was experiencing hiccups over the split in All Progressive Grand Alliance (APGA) adding that the APC was aware of the faction led by the Imo State governor, Rochas Okorocha.
He also debunked claims that Chairman of the ANPP Board of Trustees and former Governor of Borno State, Alhaji Ali Modu Sheriff was out to scuttle the merger process, saying that Sheriff has become target of fifth columnists since he became committed to the merger process.
Mogahlu, told newsmen that it was not yet clear if the former presidential candidate of the Congress for Progressive Change (CPC), Gen Mohammadu Buhari, would be adopted as presidential candidate of the new party, saying that the issue of presidential candidacy has not been discussed at all in the party.
