It appears former Chairman of the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC), Mallam Nuhu Ribadu for the second time has his eyes set on the presidency, and from the latest report, the ex-police officer is leaving no stone unturned in achieving his aspiration. An indication that Ribadu still desires taking another shot at Aso Rock emerged over the weekend.
Sources say the former presidential candidate of the Action Congress of Nigeria (ACN) in the 2011 general elections met Atiku in Abuja few days ago.
The two reportedly met and may have opened talks on a possibility of working together ahead of the 2015 general election.
However, sources described the meeting as a usual one and that it was a visit of one prominent Nigerian to the other. No details were given.
A political analyst, Dele Babalogbon described the visit as “curious” adding that “Ribadu reaching out to Atiku is not a bad move. That is politcs for you. Let us wait and see; we will definitely get answers in the coming weeks.”
It is unlikely which party Ribadu intends to join, however an ally told DailyPost that “the choice of his former party ACN and the ruling PDP is not on the cards at of this moment.”
Atiku’s media advicer, Alhaji Garba Shehu on Sunday confirmed that the duo were keen on working together for the betterment of Nigeria.
