As preparation continues earnestly for the 2015 general elections, the Goodluck/Sambo administration   and those seeking re-election under the umbrella of the People’s Democratic Party would not get automatic ticket, as disclosed by the Party national Secretary.

The National chairman of the ruling People Democratic Party (PDP), Alhaji Bamanga Tukur, had affirmed that the decision would affect not only those seeking re-election at the local levels, but also that of the states and national levels, including the National Assembly and the Presidency.

He said: “we are therefore only bound by the provisions of this constitution and not the conventions of any other party, anywhere else in the world. We are no copycats.”

The Party’s National Publicity Secretary, Chief Olisa Metuh, in a strong and carefully chosen words refuted the rumour that it was making plans to guarantee automatic tickets to some party members in office for a  second term, stating that they were all figment of people’s imagination.

It said: “The authors of this alien idea insinuated that we want to model our internal nomination process after the practice in the United States of America,” the PDP said.

Metuh however affirmed that there was no plan to amend its constitution at the moment, “we intend to strictly abide by its provision.”
