Few months after former President, Olusegun Obasanjo allegedly endorsed a Lamido/Amaechi ticket for the 2015 presidential election, the campaign for the duo seems to have kicked off.
An indication emerged on Monday as posters bearing the Jigawa State Governor, Sule Lamido, and his Rivers State counterpart, Rotimi Amaechi flooded the streets of Kaduna.
This development was observed only two days after a reconciliatory meeting of the North West zone of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) held in Kaduna state.
Lamido and Amaechi, the embattled chairman of Nigerian Governors Forum are part of state governors who are reportedly against the second term bid of President Goodluck Jonathan. However, they have denied the allegations.
The posters are reportedly visible on many streets linking Kaduna South and North. They are also visible at Ahmadu Bello Stadium Roundabout, on billboards, fences and poles in the metropolis.
Residents who appear to be satisfied with the sight were seen chanting “Sai Lamido, Sai Lamido, Sai Lamido, meaning it must be Lamido (for presidency)..
Chief Press Secretary to the Rivers State Governor, David Iyofor in his reaction denied any connection between Amechi and the 2015 posters.
“We are not aware of any such posters. We didn’t ask anybody to paste posters in Kaduna or elsewhere,” Iyofor said.
He said “mischief-makers” were determined to ridicule his boss and Lamido.
On his part, Director of Press Affairs to the Jigawa Governor, Umar Kyari Jitau said, “Honestly, we don’t know anything about it. I have not seen it.”
