Senator Rashidi Ladoja
Former governor of Oyo State and national leader of the Accord Party, Senator Rasheed Ladoja, has urged citizens of voting age not to sell their permanent voter’s cards, PVCs.
He said the call became necessary as the PVCs remain important tools for the electorate to effect a positive change in the governance of the country and his state in 2015.
In a statement signed by his Press Secretary, Alhaji Lanre Latinwo, preparatory to the distribution of the Voters’ Cards by the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) on Friday and Monday in Oyo state, Ladoja also advised eligible voters, who were yet to register, to participate in the forthcoming voters’ registration exercise.
The former governor reminded the people of the importance of the PVC and CVR, which he said, were requirements for participation in the 2015 general elections.
“Our supporters must understand and appreciate the power of their vote as this is the only way to bring about the desired change in Oyo State come 2015. So, we advise them not to sell their cards but keep them safe for the 2015 general elections.
“INEC has said it will issue Permanent Voter Cards (PVCs) to eligible voters in the state from August 15 to August 18, 2014, while the electoral commission has also fixed the Continuous Voters Registration (CRV) for August 19 to August 26, 2014,” the statement said.
“We advise all those who have attained 18 years to register because the data would provide basic statistics for planning and other activities that would benefit the state and its people,” the statement read in part.
Ladoja further urged all members of Accord Party, AP, and his other numerous supporters to be vigilant and report any shortcoming during the exercise to INEC and their party leaders in the various constituencies.
