2015: It’s too early to talk about another election – Jonathan

President Goodluck Jonathan has said that it is too early for him to decide whether he would run for the 2015 presidential election or not.

The President said this on Friday in a short speech delivered at the ongoing 2012 Holy Ghost Congress at the Redeemed Christian Church of God camp on the Lagos Ibadan Expressway under the theme: Signs and Wonders.

His Excellency said his purpose of attending the programme was to say thank you to all Nigerians who stood by him during and after the 2011 elections.

He said, “I wouldn’t have been president today, but God works in a miraculous way. I am not here to campaign as some people may think. It is too early to talk about another election. I am here to thank my brothers and sisters for praying for me to win the last election.

“I couldn’t come in 2011 after the election because of state duties, but I sent a representative. I don’t want it to look as if I just back slid after the prayers by Nigerians; so, I decided to come this year to say thank you.”

Mr. President noted that though every nation has its own hiccups just like Nigeria, yet he is optimistic that God would come to the aid of the country.

While admitting that there are challenges in the power sector, the Bayelsa-born politician noted that efforts are being put in place to restore power and to make things better for the nation.

It would be recalled that The General overseer of the Redeem Christian Church of God (RCCG), Pastor Enoch Adeboye, had declared God is about restore and rebuild the nation, Nigeria.

According to him, God has so many plans for Nigeria but “sin distorted God’s plan for the nation.”
