2015 Elections: APC group drags INEC to court to stop further postponement

A pressure group within the All Progressives Congress, APC, the All Progressives Volunteers Group, has said that it will soon commence a legal action against the Chairman of the Independent National Electoral Commission, INEC, Prof. Attahiru Jega and the commission to stop them from any further postponement of the 2015 general elections from the rescheduled dates of March 28 and April 11.

Speaking in Benin in a chat with newsmen, the Chairman of the group, Mr. Olusegun Bamgbose, contended that any further postponement of the elections would be unconstitutional, hence their decision to stop INEC and Jega from doing so.

Bamgbose said: “We know that the Peoples Democratic Party, PDP, has a hidden agenda to truncate democracy in Nigeria. So, it is our collective responsibility as citizens to resist them. From what we gathered, they are so desperate to truncate our nascent democracy. On our part, the APC Volunteers Group will make sure that PDP does not remain in power beyond May 29.”

According to him, the Presidency manipulated the postponement of the elections from February to March so as to avoid defeat and vowed that there would be no further shift of the polls.
