A Federal High Court sitting in Abuja has fixed December 1, 2014 for hearing in two different suits challenging the eligibility of President Goodluck Jonathan to re-contest in the 2015 general elections.

In the first suit, the plaintiffs, Mase Daphine Acho, Saeeq Umar Sarki (both lawyers) and Murtala Abubakar are contending that Jonathan and Sambo are ineligible to be elected president and vice president respectively.

In the second suit filed by two politicians, Adejumo Ajagbe and Olatoye Wahab, they are asking the court for an order restraining INEC and the AGF from allowing Jonathan and his vice, Namadi Sambo to seek re-election in 2015.

A similar suit had been earlier dismissed by Justice Mudashiru Oniyangi formerly of the Abuja High Court.

Not satisfied with the judgement, the plaintiff in that suit, Cyriacus Njoku had approached the Court of Appeal to challenge the decision.
