Some governors serving on the platform of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) stormed Abeokuta on Thursday and headed straight to the Presidential Hill-top mansion of the former president, Olusegun Obasanjo. It was gathered that their mission is to find ways of appeasing former President, Olusegun Obasanjo over his no-love-lost relationship with President Goodluck Jonathan.

An earlier report says that the governors comprising Godswill Akpabio, Sule Lamido, Seriake Dickson, Isa yuguda and Liyel Imoke will be expected in Obasanjo’s home today following an exhaustively assessment of the party’s chances in the 2015 presidential race at a meeting they held at the Akwa Ibom house in Abuja.

DAILY POST authoritatively gathered that the visiting governors alighted from their convoy at exactly 12:40 pm, immediately after which they went into a closed-door meeting with their host who had been waiting for them. However, sources say Governor Babangida Aliyu of Niger State is also at the meeting going on as at press time.

When they are through with the Abeokuta visit, the governors are expected to be in Minna, the Niger State capital to confer with former Head of State, General Ibrahim Babangida (rtd) to canvass support for Jonathan.

Obasanjo has recently been very critical in attacking the person and performance of President Goodluck Jonathan, rating him below average in the performance index. However, the presidency countered him with a long list of achievements recorded by the Jonathan administration, described the current president as the best ever in the country.

While the former president has publicly declared that he will not defect from the ruling PDP, virtually all his loyalists have joined the opposition, All Progressive Congress (APC).
