2014 Ballon d’Or: Henry baffled by Muller snub

Thierry Henry has revealed his surprise at Thomas Muller’s ommission from the final three Ballon d’Or nominees for this year.

The Bayern Munich forward won the domestic double with the Bundesliga club, before lifting the World Cup with Germany in Brazil this year.

Although he was named on the initial 23-man shortlist, he did not make the cut for the finalists which include team-mate Manuel Neuer, Cristiano Ronaldo and Lionel Messi.

“I don’t understand why Thomas Muller is not there. Messi and Ronaldo are extraordinary. What they do is not human. Neuer deserves to be there, too. But why didn’t we think of Thomas Muller?” Henry told RMC Sport.

“He would have been my guy, because he doesn’t do stepovers, nutmegs and all this stuff, but this guy already has 13 or 14 goals in the World Cup. And he’s a World Cup winner. Why is he not there?”
