An Ejigbo Magistrate Court sitting in Lagos has remanded a 20-year-old boy, Toluwani Olwarotimi for inflicting machete cuts on his father’s head and other part of his body.
The incident happened at No 4, Jesus is the Head Street, Ijegun area of the state.
It was learnt that the timely intervention of the neighbours saved the 20-year-old’s father and the matter was consequently reported at Isheri Oshun Police Division. It was further alleged that when the police attempted to arrest Oluwarotimi, he resisted and tried to attack the officers but was over powered.
Reacting, father of the suspect, Elijah said Toluwani had been a thorn in the flesh of the family and they have done their best to change him to no avail.
He disclosed that the suspect started smoking hard drugs at a tender age and whenever he was intoxicated, he would descend on either him or his wife, Monica and any of their three children with weapons with the aim to kill.
Elijah revealed that the 20-year-old has refused to go to school or learn any trade but decided to wage war against the family.
He noted that Toluwani’s character worsened of recent, adding that he even declared that he would kill everybody in the family starting from the father, which he had already attempted to accomplish.
Elijah said he has decided to hand him over to the police for peace to return in his family and possible rehabilitation in the prison.
Toluwani agreed to smoking but however denied the allegation that he attacked his father.
He said his problem with his father is that the latter does not care about his welfare rather he was concerned about the other children who are in various schools.
Toluwani however pleaded not guilty.
The presiding Magistrate, Mr A.A. Fashola granted him bail in the sum of N100,000 with one surety in like sum. He however remanded him in prison custody pending when he perfects his bail condition.
