20-year-old man in prison for raping young boy

A Magistrate’s Court sitting in Choba, in Obio/Akpor Local Government Area of Rivers State, on Tuesday remanded a 20-year-old man, Mr. Precious Ereta, in prison for allegedly raping a five-year-old boy through the anus.
The Prosecutor, Insp. John Achi told the court that the incident occurred on March 29, 2016, at Rumuekini community, where the accused and the victim’s parents reside.
He said, “The boy can no longer sit because of constant pain.
“Sometimes, blood and other fluids come out from the victim’s anus,” Achi noted, adding that the offence contravened Sections 134, 259 and 261 of the Criminal Law of LRivers State, 2011.
The accused person, however, pleaded not guilty.
The Chief Magistrate, Ibiere John, ordered that the case file be sent to the Directorate of Public Prosecutions, DPP.
The Magistrate adjourned the case till June 29, 2016, ordering that the accused be remanded in prison pending a legal advice from the DPP.
