As preparations heat up for the January 8, 2013 election of the new Chairman of the Board of Trustees, BoT, of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) Secretary of the board, Senator Walid Jubrin Tuesday revealed that no fewer than 20 persons have picked forms, including non-members of the board.
According to Senator Jubrin, he was shocked to see those who ordinarily were not expected to pick form to have done so , stressing that their fate would be determined during the screening and voting exercises, affirming that only members of the BoT will determine who becomes the next Chairman, either through open or secret ballot.
Jibrin added the ruling party’s constitution shows that the BoT Chairman and Secretary shall emerge from the party‘s BoT membership made up of 98 members, which shows that non members of the party‘s BoT are not eligible to contest the positions.
He noted that BoT would implore a system that would ensure an open and transparent election come January 8.
He said: “January 8 had been fixed for the election of the party’s BoT chairman and it shall remain so.”
