Two men, who allegedly gang-raped a teenage girl, were on Tuesday remanded in Kano Prisons on the orders of a magistrate court.
The Chief Magistrate, Muhammad Jibril, who gave the order, said the accused should remain behind bars till the next date of adjournment.
Muhammad Abubakar, 58, and Ali Garba, 45, both residents of Hotoro Quarters, Kano, are facing a charge of rape.
Earlier, Prosecutor Suleiman Danladi told the court that Murtala Aminu (elder brother of the victim) of the same address reported the case at Hotoro Police Division on Sept. 11, 2016.
Danladi said the accused committed the offence sometime in May 2016 at Hotoro Quarters.
“The duo had deceived and lured the 13-year-old girl to different locations to rape her.
“As a result, the victim became pregnant,’’ he said.
The prosecutor said the victim was taken to Muhammad Abdullahi Wase Specialist Hospital, Kano, for examination where she was confirmed pregnant.
The offence contravened Section 283 of the Penal Code.
The duo, however, pleaded not guilty to the charge preferred against them.
The case has been adjourned to Jan. 18 for mention. (NAN)
