16 people burnt to death in Delta State

Tragedy struck at Abavo village in Ika-South Local Government Area of Delta State as sixteen persons were on Sunday burnt to death in an auto-crash.

Sector Commander of the Federal Road Safety Corps, Susan Ajenje, said 15 persons died on the spot and one died in the hospital.

Witnesses say the accident occurred when an 18 seated bus coming from Urhonigbe market in Edo State collided with a J5 bus with registration number 107JTJ. The driver was said to have lost control.

There has been a sharp rate of accident on highways in recent weeks.

The FRSC had in its “ember months campaign” briefing , reminded vehicle owners to drive safely, especially now that the year is running out.
