The Federal Road Safety Corps (FRSC), Anambra State Command, has assured that there would be free flow of traffic in Anambra State this weekend, when the body of the former vice president, Dr Alex Ekwueme would arrive the state.
The sector commander, FRSC in Anambra, Mr Sunday Ajayi who spoke to journalists announced the deployment of over 150 personnel including special marshals across the State, especially on major roads.
He said the Corps will also deploy patrol vehicles, Ambulances, motor bikes, tow trucks in the state, and that these would be stationed along designated routes as part of measures to ensure safety on the road, during the burial ceremony.
Ajayi said these became necessary to ensure safer road during the burial as there is going to be a high volume of vehicular traffic during the period as sympathizers and dignitaries from all walks of life are expected in the state.
“Our Corps emergency ambulance response centers located at designated routes across the State will be operational throughout the period.
“The efforts of our men would be by complemented by relevant stakeholders such as the Nigerian Police, Nigerian Army, Nigerian Security and Civil Defence Corps to ensure safety of life and property.
“We have directed the removal of obstructions from all routes in the State leading to Oko Town; the venue, where the proper funeral rites of late Icon would be performed, while efforts will be geared towards improving traffic control and discongestion.”
