14-year-old boy remanded for allegedly defiling 3 step sisters

An Ikeja Chief Magistrates’ Court has remanded a 14-year-old boy (name withheld) for allegedly defiling his three step sisters.

The accused, who resides at No. 11, Olayinka Adenubi St., Mafoluku in Oshodi area of Lagos, is facing a three-count charge of defilement, indecent assault and sexual abuse.

The News Agency of Nigeria reports that the accused mother, Ihuoma Oke is facing a charge of parental neglect.

The Prosecutor, Insp. Simeon Imhonwa, told the court that the accused forcefully had a carnal knowledge of the victims who are aged two, five and 10 years respectively.

He said,“The accused sexually abused his step sisters and unlawfully had sexual intercourse with them.

“The victims, however, told their care giver and the case was reported to the police and the accused was arrested,” the prosecutor told the court.

The Chief Magistrate, Mrs Olufunke Sule-Amzat, ordered that the teenager be remanded at the Oregun Correctional Home for boys.

Sule-Amzat said that the case file should be duplicated and a copy sent to the State Director of Public Prosecutions (DPP) for advice.

The teenager, however, pleaded not guilty to the charges.

The offences contravened Sections 135 and 137 of the Criminal Law of Lagos State 2015 (Revised) and section 10 of Child Right Law of Lagos State of Nigeria, 2015.

The section prescribes life sentence for offenders.

‎The magistrate adjourned the case until April 8 for mention.
