Thirteen political parties in Kwara State, under the aegis of the Conference of Nigerian Political Parties, have declared their support for the re-election bid of Governor Abdulfatah Ahmed.

Alhaji Adebayo Lawal, the CNPP Chairman in Kwara State, told journalists at a news conference on Monday in Ilorin that the political parties have resolved to garner votes for Ahmed.

Lawal listed the political parties as including Action Alliance, Progressive Peoples Alliance, United Progressives Party and Social Democratic Party.

Others are United Democratic Party, Citizen Popular Party, All Progressives Grand Alliance and African Congress of Democrats.

Lawal, the state Chairman of AA, was joined by the governorship candidates of the other political parties to declare their support for the APC in the forthcoming elections.

He said the support of the CNPP for the APC candidate was informed by the outcome of the March 28 presidential and National Assembly polls in which the party emerged victorious.

He said: “It is no longer news that General Muhammadu Buhari won the presidential elections held on Saturday March 28.

“The incumbent President Goodluck Jonathan had taken courageous decision to congratulate him hours before the Independent National Electoral Commission declared Buhari the winner.”

Lawal described the APC and its candidates as those to beat in the coming elections by virtue of trend of the previous ones.

He said the CNPP was taking the step in order to be in the mainstream of the nation’s politics by ensuring that Governor Ahmed of the APC was re-elected.
