12,000 teachers promoted in Kwara State

Governor Abdulfatah Ahmed of Kwara State has approved the promotion of over 12,000 primary and secondary school teachers in the state.

Details of the promotion exercise clearly show that about 10,046 primary school teachers and 2105 secondary school teachers were beneficiaries.

Similarly, civil servants due for the next tranche of promotions are writing the qualification examinations prelude to the oral interviews.

Speaking in Ilorin, following the promotion, Governor Ahmed said the teachers were promoted so as to be motivated into higher performance as well as to boost their economic welfare with enhanced pay.

Stressing that the two levels were critical to the attainment of qualitative education and human capital development in the state, the Governor pledged the state government’s commitment to further better the conditions of civil servants’ conditions in the state.

Mr Ahmed urged the newly-promoted teachers to reciprocate the gesture by intensifying their efforts towards providing qualitative education to their students, adding that civil servants who excel in the appraisals will be duly promoted.

Reacting to the Governor’s kind gesture, the leadership of the Kwara state branch of the Nigeria Union of Teachers in a statement signed by its Chairman, Farouq Akanbi and Assistant General Secretary, Wale Oyeniyi described Governor Ahmed’s gesture as a humane one, as it will boost the morale of the teachers.
