100 days in office: Contractors get marching order in Enugu

Governor Ifeanyi Ugwuanyi of Enugu State has called on contractors handling the on-going projects in the state to speed up actions to enable the state actualize its target of completing some of the projects before its 100 days in office.

The governor gave the directive through the State Commissioner for works and infrastructure, Engr. Patrick Ikpenwa during his official visits to the new Government House building project and the Airport Roundabout-Emene Road project to inspect the on-going external works and rehabilitation work, respectively.

The Commissioner who was accompanied to the sites by the State Commissioner for Information, Dr. Godwin Udeuhele, disclosed the commitment of the governor towards the completion of the projects and his desire to showcase them along others projects during his 100 days in office.

He expressed optimism that the contractor handling the Government House project, Arab Contractor O. A.O Nigeria Limited will heed to the directive and speed up actions so that the governor’s desire will be achieved.

“We are here to inspect one of our projects, and this particular one is the Lion Building. As you can see the project is about 95% completed. Presently we are working on the external works and you can see that it is about being concluded. It might interest you to know that this is one of the projects that His Excellency, the governor of Enugu State is interested in showcasing in his 100 days in office.

“A good number of remarkable projects are going on in the state, in spite of the negative development in the nation’s economy. We have the diagnostic centre; the job is at advance stage and is 70% completed. We have the Holy Ghost- Ogbete Enugu main market entrance road project, that one is practically completed. We are also working on different roads and have commenced the bidding process for the construction of eight rural and urban roads across the state in keeping faith with our campaign promises.

“From here, we are heading to Airport Roundabout-Emene road to inspect work there and charge the Contractor to speed up work. We have the new State Secretariat complex. It is still on-going and a good number of them will form part of what we are going to showcase during the 100 days in office of our governor to prove to the people that the present administration has their interests at heart” the commissioner said.

In his remark, the State Commissioner for Information, Dr. Udeuhele noted that the governor has proved himself beyond reasonable doubt that he is poised to advance development in the state and take it to the next level.

He added that the governor’s commitment in providing the dividends of democracy to the people and his humanitarian gestures in touching the lives of the less privileged in the society have distinguished him as a visionary leader with a golden heart.
