A 10-year-old unidentified girl alongside her mother named Hassan Tope, have been arrested after the girl allegedly confessed that she stole her boss’ money on the instruction of her mother.

According to reports, the incident happened at 21, Ajeniya Street in the Obalende area of Lagos State.

The girl had been taken by her mother to one Opuoro Raliat, to work as a house help.

Reports claim the girl stole N350, 000 and confessed to the police that her mother had given her instructions to steal her ‘madam’s’ money.

In her alleged confession, PM News reports that she said, “My mother took me to my madam to assist her because she was suffering from eye-sight related problems.

“My mother instructed that anytime I come across my madam’s money, I should steal it and bring it to her.

“So, anytime my madam drops a bag containing money in her room, I will steal it and hand it over to my mother.”

The girl said she did not know how to steal before, but that her mother led her to commit the crime. She however, allegedly promised not to steal again.

Reports further revealed the girl took the police to her mother who was arrested but she, upon her arrest, allegedly denied collecting any money from her daughter.

The duo was reportedly arraigned at the Igbosere Magistrates’ court in the state on two counts of stealing and receiving.

Meanwhile, the girl pleaded guilty to the crime but her mother reportedly pleaded not guilty.

The Magistrate, Mrs. A. T. Omoyele, reportedly granted the mother bail in the sum of N10,000 and two sureties in like sum.

Omoyele ordered that the girl be remanded at the Children’s Correctional Centre at Idi-Araba, Surulere, Lagos.
