10 suspected cultists arrested in Cross River

Ten suspected cultists have been arrested in Calabar South and Calabar Municipal local government areas of Cross River State.

DAILY POST gathered that two other suspected cultists were reportedly killed in the renewed cult clash between two rival cult groups, the Klans and Axe.

The suspects among others were the persons that terrorised the people of the State capital for over 48 hours.

It was gathered that the Mbukpa Police Division arrested three while State Anti Robbery Squads (SARS) arrested seven.

When contacted, the Police Public Relations Officer, Ms Irene Ugbo told DAILY POST on phone on Tuesday, that in all, ten suspects were arrested.

“The Police is still investigating the cause of the clash. Shortly after the investigations, the suspects would be charged to court,” she stated.

It would be recalled that the renewed cult clash occurred on Saturday and Sunday between the suspected cult groups, Klans and Axe.

Two suspected cultists were allegedly killed while several others sustained various decrees of injuries and are recieving treatment in various hospitals.
