Reports say Boko Haram insurgents have killed 10 people, including two soldiers, and torched several homes during a raid in northern Cameroon.
Security sources said on Thursday that Wednesday’s attack in the town of Blame, near the Nigerian border, led to the deaths “of two soldiers from BIR (an elite army unit) and eight civilians.”
The death of the soldiers was confirmed by a BIR officer.
According to the security source, the Islamists burnt several houses in the town, which is close to Lake Chad, before retreating to Nigeria.
Earlier on Tuesday, a Cameroonian soldier was killed and two others wounded when Boko Haram insurgents attacked the north of the country.
